General Notes and Morphology

This genera contains species which are dermatophytes. "Dermatophytes generally are susceptible to common disinfectants, particularly those containing cresol, iodine or chlorine. They survive for years in the inanimate environment. (B88)"

Perfect State: Arthroderma

Reproduction
Sexual Spores Produces ascospores when in the non-parasitic phase.  (B88)
Conidia Two types of conidia may be produced by ascomycetes:

Macroconidia: produced by some members of this genus, but are often absent. If present -  walls are usually thin (but may be thick) with smooth surface and they are slender and club-shaped. The spores are borne singly and are divided by septa into 3-8 cells. (B88) (B92) (B21)

Microconidia: these are frequently produced by species of this genus and are usually numerous an borne singly along the hyphae or in grape-like clusters.  (B88) (B21)
